Champagne Village Tennis Pickleball Club – Join Us!

Tennis Pickleball Club – we love to be both active and social! There are currently about 60 paid members, dues are $25.00 annually.   Your membership fee pays for monthly potluck main dish costs provided by a volunteer host – we take turns. Monthly meeting/potluck are held the 2nd Thursday or each month, at 5 o’clock.  We meet either in the Hall or in the Picnic Area. The signup sheet is posted ahead of time on bulletin board in the Hall.

Dues also pay for the pickleballs used in club play, and a few other things needed for the courts. Our members look forward to an elegant and fun Holiday Party held in the Hall.  Members have several different skill levels within the club.  We welcome retired players, social members who have never played, and currently active players. We also have about 14 nonresident guest members.

Tennis has been played at Champagne Village since the 80’s. Many of the players have retired from the game but are still active members of our club. Tennis is played as players get a game together and schedule their time on the black board outside the court. Tennis players may use our club owned pitching machine. If interested in playing tennis or practicing with our machine, please contact Kevin Bauder, Space 4, and he will set you up with its ins and outs.

The west tennis court is lined for both games. There are two portable nets and they can be rolled into place if more than 3 courts are needed while Pickleball is in session. We have 5 total Pickleball courts, 3 of which are dedicated.  We own a pitching machine for practice and members may check it out after learning about operation. Contact Jan Nyberg for more information.

We usually play the following schedule: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays 8-10:30 AM.  Wednesday and Friday nights under the lights: 7-8:30PM.  Winter hours are later and include afternoon games on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 2:30. Play times change about the same as the pool hours where we open 1/2 hour later as the seasons evolve.  We have lights for evening play.  We also arrange play times on our social web site, Group Me.  If interested in joining the web site, indicate it on membership sign up form.

During regular scheduled play times, Pickleball Club has priority on court use.  Learners are invited on Wednesdays, and we can arrange time for free lessons.  If interested in learning, contact Jan Nyberg, space 221 or Steve Penacho, space 279.

Flat court shoes are required. We have a few paddles available for newcomers who want to try it out.  New paddles cost about $50.  CV Pickleball Club has a club discount on Pickleball Central website.   Ask Janet Schaeffer, space 429, for the Club’s shopping code.

Who Can Play?    If you can easily walk a mile or more and have good balance, you can play. Eye hand coordination is important too. One danger is falling when running or moving backward, so beware risks are involved.  Other injuries have included broken bones and muscle strains, therefore, stretching and warming up are necessary. However, friendship, exercise, friendly competition and being outside are wonderful benefits.  Looking forward to meeting you at the CV courts soon.
